Shooting victim found at entrance to coal mine in Adger area Share Updated: 5:44 PM CDT Apr 9, 2021 WVTM 13 Digital Share Updated: 5:44 PM CDT Apr 9, 2021 WVTM 13 Digital A man was shot during an apparent argument in Adger today and found near the entrance to a coal mine.The Jefferson County Sheriff s Office reports the shooting happened in the 5400 block of Sealy Ann Mountain Road.Early reports to the JCSO state a group of friends apparently got into an argument at a residence, when shots were fired, and one person was struck.The victim was taken to the entrance of a coal mine in the 4700 block of Sealy Ann Mountain Road by a citizen, where according to JCSO, they were hoping to get help as soon as possible. The victim was taken to a hospital and the medical condition is unknown.JCSO says there is no connection to the coal mines or the ongoing organized labor situation.

(WWNY) - While a Watertown man waits to go to jail, his legal team is working to see that he receives methadone in the Jefferson County Jail. That means going to court against the county. The civil liberties groups NYCLU and ACLU are backing a Watertown resident with a lawsuit against Jefferson County and staff at the sheriff’s office. “This case is about ensuring that our client, P.G., has continued access to methadone treatment, which he receives for opioid addiction,” said Antony Gemmell, NYCLU senior staff attorney.

Airplane crash victim previously crashed in Chaffee County

The same man who crashed in an alfalfa field near Salida in 2019, is dead after the plane he was flying Saturday crashed in a rugged area northwest of Deckers. CBS News 4 in Denver reported that Lelon Lewis, 66, of Lakewood, was reported missing about 8 p.m. Saturday, and subsequently found Sunday when another craft flying overhead saw his plane. Search and rescue personnel from the Alpine Rescue team, along with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, were able to reach the crash site in the Lost Creek Wilderness, and identify Lewis. He was the only person aboard the plane, a single-engine Magnus Fusion 212 Hungarian-made acrobatic plane.

Jefferson County sheriff charges local man in 2019 homicide case

Updated: 8:02 PM CDT April 8, 2021 JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. A suspect in the 2019 death of a St. Louis man has been arrested and charged with murder after the victim’s body was found, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Jason Isbell, 44, of Hillsboro, is charged with killing Samuel Israelsen of St. Louis, 41, in June 2019. Israelsen’s body was located Tuesday night near High Ridge by a property owner. The body was wrapped in carpet and intentionally hidden in a wooded area, the sheriff’s office said. The victim was found to have extensive head trauma and a large St. Louis tattoo on his left arm that further identified him, according to charging documents. 

POLICE: Man who used over $1k in fake money in Trussville had multiple warrants in other jurisdictions

From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE A Birmingham man was arrested in Trussville after attempting to pass fake cash at Kohl’s, according to police. Dedrick Deon Taylor, 29, of Birmingham, was arrested on March 30, at the store on Chalkville Mountain Road. He is now facing several charges including three counts of possession of a forged instrument first-degree, theft of property third-degree and theft of property fourth-degree. Investigators said Taylor bought items with counterfeit $20 bills. When he tried to return the items, he was arrested. According to a police report, Taylor gave Kohl’s over $1,000 dollars in counterfeit bills during at least two shopping sprees in March.
