HELENA â Part of Interstate 15 has been closed Tuesday night after tanker crash and fire south of Basin.
According to posts from the Jefferson County Sheriff s Office the crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on the southbound side of the interstate near mile marker 156 between Basin and Bernice.
There is no word yet on whether anyone has been seriously injured.
Drivers headed southbound should expect delays. Southbound traffic is being diverted to Highway 69 at the Boulder interchange. North bound traffic is flowing. Drivers in the area are asked to be alert and watch for emergency crews.

HELENA â UPDATE 5:45 p.m. 1/13/21 : Law enforcement have released more information regarding the fatal tanker explosion on I-15 near Basin.
The driver of the tanker was a 34-year-old man from Rexburg, Idaho.The name has not been released while the family is being notified.
Investigators say the road was slick and the vehicle overturned when taking a corner. Once overturned the tanker began to leak and then caught fire.

Paul Edward Nelson, 54, was arrested by Wednesday morning Port Neches Police officers on charges of possession of child pornography according to jail records.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Three officers were injured saving a man from his burning motel room, after fire broke out at a town of Watertown motel early Monday morning.
According to Relax Inn Motel manager Wanda Estrada, four officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and state police were called to the outer Washington Street motel around 1 a.m. after a man was heard shouting for help from his room.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The man law enforcement officers dragged out of a smoke-filled motel room early Monday morning is in critical but stable condition at a Syracuse hospital.
Jefferson County sheriff deputies say 55-year-old Robert Murphy was first taken to Samaritan Medical Center after his rescue from room 112 of the Relax Inn in Watertown.
He was later airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
