Question of the Day
The Jefferson City News-Tribune, Jan. 19
The vaccination rollout has gone slower than expected, but we’re encouraged that the county’s health department, along with area schools, are planning for vaccination clinics for school staff members.
On Sunday, we reported it’s still unclear when school staff will have the opportunity to get vaccinated, but that county/school officials are starting to plan for clinics.

We hope the clinics come sooner than later. School teachers/staffers are essentially front-line workers, and we’ve previously editorialized in support of them being among the first to receive the vaccine.
Lincoln University law enforcement academy approved
By The Associated Press
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) Lincoln University in Jefferson City has received a one-year probationary license for a law enforcement training academy, which supporters say is the first such academy in the country at an historically Black university.
Gov. Mike Parson and Missouri Department of Public Safety Director Sandy Karsten signed the license during a ceremony Tuesday at the university, The Jefferson City News-Tribune reported.
Parson said the academy could have far-reaching impacts at a time when law enforcement agencies are working to improve diversity.
The academy will focus on attracting low-income students from minority communities. Classes will be capped at 24 and, as of Tuesday, the academy had received 22 applications. Classes start next month.
