Pine Bluff police investigating third deadly shooting this week

According to the Pine Bluff Police Department, officers are in the early stages of a homicide investigation. Around 7:18 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to W. 8th St. in reference to a person lying in the street. Upon arrival, officers located 38-year-old Jason Anderson with apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his wounds. The identity of the shooter or shooters and the circumstances of the homicide are under investigation. This is the 10th homicide for Pine Bluff this year.

The three facilities were awarded grades of D by the Leapfrog Group, an organization the performs regular assessments of hospitals. Numerous Pennsylvania hospitals received top safety marks while others didn t quite measure up in The Leapfrog Group s annual spring safety grades. The nonprofit health care watchdog group grades hospitals twice a year, assigning letter grades from A to F based on each hospital s ability to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.

But three received a C grade, meaning patients are more likely to die a preventable death at those facilities than those graded higher. The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality and safety of American health care, assesses roughly 2,500 hospitals nationwide twice a year. Leapfrog uses up to 28 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and information from other supplemental data sources.
