Buffalo Police Impound More Than 30 Illegal ATVs
It looks like the increased efforts of the Buffalo Police Department are helping the clamp down on the illegal use of all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes in the City of Buffalo.
According to a news report by WGRZ-TV, officers have recently seized more than 30 of these vehicles and made numerous arrests of people using these vehicles in a manner that is against state and local laws.
Authorities from the Buffalo Police Department announced they have been partnering with the New York State Police and made use of a State Police helicopter to track riders throughout the city.

BUFFALO, N.Y. It’s quieter on Skillen Street, and Jay Downey is happy about that.
“I was talking to my friend, John, and we truly believe that something changed, and we’re thankful for that,” Downey said.
What’s been reduced has been the number of dirt bikes and ATVs racing down the street.
Buffalo Police Capt. Jeffrey Rinaldo called it the worst car accident he’d ever seen.
The monument has about $100,000 in damage, though some of it was caused during Black Lives Matter protests earlier in the year, Rinaldo said. McKinley was assassinated on a 1901 visit to the city in western New York.
Flynn said that the accident investigation would continue and that more charges against Tolbert are possible. The initial vehicular manslaughter charge is to ensure Tolbert remains in custody, he said.
“My concern now is that he doesn’t walk out of that hospital,” the prosecutor said.
Tolbert was on parole at the time of the crash after being released from prison six months earlier, Flynn said. State records indicate he was freed May 21, 2020 after serving nearly seven years for burglary.
WBFO s Michael Mroziak reports.
The unit s responsibilities, explained Captain Jeffrey Rinaldo, included managing pedestrian and auto traffic flow at events including parades, motorcades, 5K runs and other races, sporting events and other special events. Most of the events the unit would oversee have been canceled due to the ongoing pandemic, and Rinaldo suggests many are unlikely to occur in the coming months.

So, in an effort to redistribute those officers and allow us to attempt to cut some of our costs for overtime in the districts, the decision was made by the commissioner to disband that unit, and put those officers back into the five patrol districts, he told WBFO Tuesday.
