Tucked up on a hill at Ferguson Street and Third Avenue is a tent city more than 20 people now call home.
Their colourful tents, protected by tarps, line the former railway tracks. In the middle of the site a man-made hole is used to store coolers with leftover meals from Hope’s Kitchen, while a few lawn chairs are neatly tucked beside carts and strollers used to carry belongings.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees is calling for an urgent “full and independent review” of their “underperforming” Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) pension plan.
CUPE Ontario president Fred Hahn held a virtual press conference to address the issue and release the report, titled Not Just One ‘Tough Year’: The Need for a Review of OMERS Investment Performance.
