Courtesy of JCSO NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) arrested a man on Thursday after serving him a warrant for public indecency and inappropriate communication with a minor. On February 4, deputies were dispatched to Geneva Township in reference to a male who had supposedly exposed himself to a female minor and offered to give her a ride in his car. The juvenile ran from the suspect and told her parents who immediately reported the crime. JCSO developed a suspect, and in cooperation with the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office, identified the man as Brandon Cameron, 29, of North Vernon. He was already a registered sex offender.

The incident occurred when Ryan Perry, 37, of Hope, went to the residence of Ashton Ayers, 51, in an attempt to locate a female acquaintance, Chief Deputy Dave Turner said. Deputies said that Perry tried to gain entrance into the home when a physical altercation took place between him and Ayers. Turner said that Perry was shot with a handgun in the abdomen by Ayers after he attempted to enter the home a second time about 10 minutes after the first altercation.
