LUCKNOW: Former Rajasthan governor Anshuman Singh breathed his last at Lucknow s Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences on Monday. He was 86. According to an official statement, Singh was admitted to the hospital due to coronavirus-related complications on February 8. Subsequently, his condition worsened and led a multi-organ failure requiring life support system, the hospital said in the statement, adding that he died at 4.30 am. Anshuman Singh had taken charge as the governor of Rajasthan on January 16, 1999 and remained in office till May 2003.
CM Ashok Gehlot greets Denmark Ambassador Freddy Svane
JAIPUR: A centre of excellence for the dairy sector will be set up in Rajasthan in collaboration with Denmark, an official statement said on Saturday.
Denmark Ambassador Freddy Svane discussed the idea at a meeting with chief minister Ashok Gehlot here on Saturday, a statement from the CMO said. The diplomat also had a courtesy meeting with governor Kalraj Mishra.
Svane said to provide better facilities to cattle rearers, full cooperation will be given in making available Denmark’s expertise in the field of dairy science and technology to Rajasthan.
The possibilities of Denmark’s cooperation in the field of water conservation and purification were also discussed in the meeting.
Former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje
JAIPUR: Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Sunday started a two-day yatra of the state s Bharatpur region, in a possible attempt to show her strength to the party leadership.
Addressing a gathering at Puchdi Ka Lota in Bharatpur ahead of her birthday on Monday, Raje said she is the daughter of a woman who had nationalism and the BJP in her blood and called upon her supporters to uproot the “anti-development” government of Ashok Gehlot in the state.
The two-day temple tour by Raje is being seen as an attempt by her to show her strength to the party leadership as she is upset over being sidelined, according to several party leaders.

JAIPUR: In a tragic incident, a 23-year-old rape survivor was set on fire by an unidentified person at her residence in Dhan Mandi area of Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district in the wee hours of Thursday. She has sustained 90% burn injuries and suffered damage to some vital organs.
