Caring cards from strangers help patients on road to recovery

Mark Fugel was alone for five days recovering from a recent surgery when he received a handmade card from a neighbor he doesn t even know. I m going to get emotional, Fugel said. It s very sweet, people thinking of us in the hospital these days. There are a lot of elderly and isolated people who feel lost. Just little things like this are beautiful.

Police said they responded around 11:36 am to a constriction site on Boundary Road after receiving a 9-1-1 call that a worker had fallen through a roof and landed inside the building.
The 24-year old from North Plainfield was working on the roof when he suddenly fell about 20 feet and suffered injuries to his head, back, leg as well as some possible internal injuries, police said.
He was conscious when officers arrived on location and was then brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
The worker is employed by Hageman Roofing Company located in Ridgefield Park.
Carles Bryant, 34, remains at large.
Toms River police officers went to the Howard Johnson about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a 911 call about a fight between a man and a woman in the lobby.

The officers found the woman unconscious with apparent stab wounds to the head, face and body, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said in a statement.
Medics rushed the woman to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where she remains in stable but critical condition, the prosecutor said.
Bryant was identified and charged on Wednesday. He also drew weapons offenses and a contempt charge in the attack.

Toms River Police arrived on scene March 3 around 10:30 pm to find a woman on the floor of the hotel lobby suffering from multiple stab wounds to her head, face and body.
She was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where she remains in critical but stable condition.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and the Toms River Police Detective Bureau began an investigation which led them identifying 34-year old Carles Bryant as the man responsible for the attack.
MARLBORO - The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating a fall that happened at a township worksite Monday.
Township police received a 911 call shortly after 11:30 a.m. reporting that a worker, a 24-year-old North Plainfield man, fell through the roof and landed inside a building at 240 Boundary Road.
The roofer fell about 20 feet, injured his head, back and leg, and may have suffered internal injuries, Capt. Stephen Levy of the Marlboro Township Police Department said.

The injured man was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Neither his name nor his condition were released.
