The Ocean County Prosecutors Office and Berkeley Township Police are investigating a Monday night shooting in Manitou Park that left a man with a bullet fragment in his face, Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Police Chief Karin DiMichele announced in a joint statement Tuesday.

The 29-year old victim was treated at Community Medical Center and later released.
As for the shooting, police responded to Third Avenue Manitou Park on Monday around 3:00 pm where they found the victim.
It s not known who fired the shots or why at this point.

NJ boosts food stamps for 231,000 families under new Biden rule
TRENTON New Jersey will boost supplemental nutrition assistance benefits for 231,000 households, about half of those already getting the federally funded help, by $95 a month under a Biden administration rule, the state said Tuesday.
The change comes with about a $17 million price tag, according to the state Human Services Department. The program is financed by the federal government but run by the state.
The Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program, which had been called food stamps, serves more than 800,000 people in the state in about 423,000 households. We remain committed to providing as much additional food security as possible to New Jersey families, and are pleased to provide this extra assistance,” acting Human Services Commissioner Sarah Adelman said in a statement.

Manchester Police responded to a residence on Yorktowne Parkway in Whiting around 3:45 pm Tuesday and found Jack Gotfried, 69, in the roadway with traumatic injuries to his lower extremities.
