Jersey City officials broke ground on the expansion of Fairmount Triangle Park in Ward F launching a $200,000 park renovation.
The renovation aims to improve safe access while increasing outdoor recreational space.
The grant-funded project will transform two street segments that bisect existing green spaces – at the intersection of Fairmount and Summit avenues – to create an uninterrupted park.

“It was this pinkish, reddish chunky pulp and it was just all over my car,” Falkenstein told NJ Advance Media on Friday. “My car is white, so I could really see it. I have never smelled a smell like this.”
“It was pretty well pulverized and smelled just god awful,” said Falkenstein, who turned off the air conditioning, put her face mask back on and headed to the nearest car wash.
New Jersey State Police told NJ Advance Media the mess was from an accidental spill that occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 42 near milepost 13.4. The spill left a 200-foot trail of animal waste, troopers said. The incident was first reported by local blog NJPen.com.
