Switzerland allocates CHF 4.500.000 to Armenia for nature protection and economic development
Switzerland launched a new development intervention to assist the Republic of Armenia in its efforts regarding nature conservation and economic development, the Swiss Cooperation Office in Yerevan reported.
The Government of Switzerland approved in principle a grant worth of CHF 4’500’000 for the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project. In close cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), this project will be implemented by the World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF) as a part of a broader regional program Eco-Corridor Fund for the Caucasus (ECF).

UNESCO project envisions twin goals of heritage preservation, job creation

AMMAN UNESCO project “Employment Opportunities for Cultural Heritage Safeguarding in Jordan” aims to invest in cultural heritage preservation while creating short-term job opportunities for Jordanians and Syrians, according to Giorgia Cesaro, senior project officer.
The project, started in 2019, seeks to contribute to sustainable socio-economic development by utilising culture as a source of resilience, Cesaro said.
London German energy major Uniper has shelved plans for a floating LNG import terminal at the Port of Wilhelmshaven, and is now conducting a feasibility study for the import of green ammonia as part of its fledgling hydrogen strategy, the company said in a statement on April 14.

After a market test in October 2020 failed to elicit sufficient interest in long-term capacity at a proposed LNG regasification terminal at the location, Uniper now plans to develop a national hub for hydrogen, with a combination of electrolysis and imported ammonia cracking that could meet 10% of Germany s hydrogen demand in 2030.
