ITM Power is preferred supplier for new hydrogen project in Germany

(Alliance News) - ITM Power PLC said on Friday that it is the preferred supplier of electrolysis equipment at a new hydrogen fuelling station in Germany.
Linde Engineering won the bid on Thursday for the construction of the green hydrogen project in Herten, Germany, and will receive funding of up to EUR6.2 million from the German Federal Ministry of Transport & Digital Infrastructure.
Each of the electrolysers delivered by ITM Power to Linde Engineering will have an annual capacity of 440,000 kilogrammes of hydrogen, helping provide green electricity and environmentally friendly heat into public grids.
ITM Power (AIM: ITM), the energy storage and clean fuel company, notes the announcement yesterday by Linde Engineering in Germany of its successful bid for the design and construction of an integrated hydrogen fuelling station and electrolysis plant for AGR in Herten, Germany. The German federal government has adopted the so-called Carbon Leakage Ordinance on 31 March 2021. The ordinance aims at providing financial relief for companies impacted by the German national carbon emissions trading system, and seeks to prevent the flight of these companies to third country jurisdictions.
The national carbon emissions trading system, introduced by the German Combustibles Emissions Trading Act (Brennstoffemissionshandelsgesetz or BEHG), entered into force in 2021 and complements the European emissions trading system (EU ETS), which has been in place since 2005.
