Music producers and engineers work together on the behind-the-scenes process of creating a song. According to
Chron, producers are the overseers of the entire creative process of the song, and they provide advice to artists on what they can do to make a song successful. Music engineers are educated on soundboards and are typically in charge of controlling them during recording sessions under the suggestions of the producer.
Mathias Tyner, a 16-year-old producer, started making beats on his phone in the sixth grade. When he was in the eighth grade, he researched how to make actual beats rather than the ones he was making with the click of a button on an app. He discovered FL Studio, and that was the beginning of his journey of taking producing more seriously.
. What were those conversations like about recording something like the Oregon City Sessions
, and how did it all come about?
Zachary Carothers:Â Everything that we do when it comes to recordings or videos or writing a song, we re always just trying to take a snapshot of a moment. That s what all of our albums have ever been and anything that we ve done. What s funny about it is that when it comes to stuff like this, a lot of times we ll record a show, and then in the time that it takes to get things mixed and mastered and finalized, we re always just like playing different things or onto a new thing. It s always like, âMan, that s the old us,â and so we never put anything out. So this is kind of a big deal, more than just shouting out back to some old stuff, it s kind of us letting go of some special moments. We re just trying not to be too precious with things anymore. Claud keeps great company. Their debut LP
Super Monster is the first release from Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory imprint, and features collaborations from dream pop princess Clairo (the pair are close friends), Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Jake Portrait, and singer-songwriter Nick Hakim, among others. It was recorded in the fabled Electric Lady Studios, and named after an unreleased Daniel Johnston painting which the studio manager showed them after seeing its title, ‘Claud & The Super Monster’.
