The Hohoe Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service is investigating a case of alleged trafficking of 14 children in Hohoe. The children, made up of eight boys and six girls, are aged between 13 and 22 years. Detective Inspector James Kalami, in charge of the District Criminal Investigations Department (CID), told the Ghana News Agency that the Police acted upon a tip-off. He said the case was being treated as alleged trafficking until investigations were concluded. The Inspector said the driver and the mate of the vehicle were assisting the Police in the investigation. He said initial information showed that the children were from Damanko and Kpassa in the Oti Region and were heading towards Asikuma and its environs.

55 criminal offences recorded in Hohoe municipality

The offences are stealing, assault, fraud, offensive conduct, causing unlawful damage and unlawful entry.
Detective Inspector James Kalami, in-charge, District Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), disclosed that 23 of the cases were recorded between December 24 and December 31, last year.
The breakdown include four fraud cases, nine stealing cases, one case of causing unlawful damage, seven assault, one unlawful entry and an offensive conduct case.
Insp Kalami said the remaining 32 cases recorded between December 31 and January 2, this year, included two threats of harm, one offensive conduct, seven assault, 19 stealing and three fraud cases.
A total of 55 criminal offences have been recorded in the Hohoe Municipality from December 24, 2020 to January 2, this year.
The offences range from stealing, assault, fraud, offensive conduct, causing unlawful damage and unlawful entry.
