Police seeking help in identifying hit and run suspect

At about 5:50 a.m. on Dec. 24 officers responded to the hit and run involving a pedestrian on West Franklin Boulevard near Sante Circle. James Marshall Nichols, 33, was walking from Kings Mountain to Gastonia when he was struck. He died at the scene. “After further investigating the hit and run from Christmas Eve, we have found an image of a vehicle we believe is the suspect vehicle,” Traffic Sgt. J.R. Ewers said. “We are looking for a white or light in color Grand Cherokee with front passenger side damage to include a damaged passenger side headlight.” Anyone who has any information is asked to call the lead Investigator A. Pedestrian killed in suspected hit and run

Gastonia police are investigating a hit and run after a Kings Mountain man was struck by a car and killed while walking along the shoulder of West Franklin Boulevard. Sgt. J. Ewers said police were called to the scene near the intersection of West Franklin Boulevard and Sante Circle just east of Sadler Elementary School shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday morning.  They discovered the body of 33-year-old James Marshall Nichols. Police said Nichols was walking from Kings Mountain to Gastonia along the side of the eastbound lane of West Franklin Boulevard when he was struck.  It s a terrible way to start Christmas Eve, Ewers said.
