A COMPREHENSIVE guide to everything East Lothian has been published – just months after the author’s sad death. Malcolm Fife (pictured below) had been working on East Lothian: Exploring a County but passed away earlier this year. The book (pictured below), which covers everything from the Bass Rock to picturesque harbours and from Scotland’s earliest railway to fine country houses, was published earlier this month. Mr Fife, 66, who read geography at the University of Edinburgh, was a renowned author on Scottish history with a number of acclaimed books, many focusing on Edinburgh. He died in January this year, following a short illness, just as the book was being prepared for the printer.
