Physician accused of raping a patient and sexually assaulting another in Helena MTN News and last updated 2021-03-17 13:18:19-04 HELENA — James Haldeman Armstrong, a physician in Missoula, has been accused of raping a patient and sexually assaulting another at a Helena clinic. Armstrong, 57 years old, appeared in Lewis & Clark County Justice Court on one count of felony sexual intercourse without consent, one count of felony sexual assault and one count of misdemeanor sexual assault. According to court documents, police in Helena interviewed a woman in December who had gone to see Armstrong regarding her mental health. While at the appointment, the woman claims Armstrong told her she needed a physical inspection and asked if she had a boyfriend or husband. Later during the appointment, she accuses Armstrong of touching her inappropriately.

Helena doctor charged with sexual assault

HELENA, Mont. - A Helena doctor was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of sexual assault after reports from two of his patients.  According to court documents, on Dec. 10, 2020, a woman told police she had gone to see Dr. James Haldeman Armstrong for an appointment regarding her mental health.  Dr. Armstrong asked the woman if she had a husband or boyfriend, told her she needed a physical examination and proceeded to touch her inappropriately. During an interview on Dec. 17, 2020, another woman reported being touched inappropriately by Dr. Armstrong. Court documents stated she visited Dr. Armstrong on two occasions to obtain a prescription for mental health medication. Dr. Armstrong is accused of touching the woman and did not explain why his actions were medically necessary.
