Vaccine administrators dole out shots to stranded drivers in the middle of a snowstorm
The vaccine rollout in the U.S. isn’t totally going to plan. Some states aren’t administering doses fast enough, others don’t have enough, and in many area, stories of “expiring vaccine doses” have become local horror stories. But in the midst of all the vaccine chaos are random little vaccine miracles, like the health administrators from Oregon who got stuck in a snowstorm with a batch of soon-too-expire vaccines and made a game-time decision to hand out the vaccines to other drivers who were also stuck in the snowstorm and willing to get a surprise jab in the arm.

The health care professionals were returning from a vaccination clinic when they got stuck on the icy road and just before the vaccinations expired, the workers decided to offer the hard-to-get vaccine to others stuck in the snow.
They went to the stranded vehicles and offered those stuck in the winter storm the COVID vaccine. An ambulance was on standby while the shots were administered.
According to the Josephine County Public Health Facebook post, six vaccinations were given to those stranded on the roadway right before the vaccine was set to expire.

Setback turned to success for six people stranded on a snowy roadway in Oregon when a COVID-19 vaccine team returning from a clinic with unused doses gave them roadside shots.
Stuck by a snowstorm slamming Highway 199 in southwestern Oregon, the healthcare team that ran a mass vaccination event at a local high school on Tuesday quickly realized that six leftover inoculations would spoil before they could get to the city of Grants Pass, Oregon, to administer them as planned, according to the Josephine County Public Health Facebook page.
