Man killed in fall from scaffolding at Prudential Tower was fixing HVAC unit, union says

A sheet-metal worker from Hudson County was trying to repair the HVAC system in Prudential Tower when he fell through the ceiling and was killed, a union representative said Friday.
Peter J. Millar, 44, of Kearny, was inside the building on the fifth floor when he fell through a 2-foot by 4-foot opening in the ceiling, according to Joseph Demark of Local Sheet Local 25 Sheet Metal Workers.
“He was on stair scaffolding, replacing or repairing the HVAC system when somehow he fell 30 feet,” Demark said. The 20-story office building at 655 Broad Street in Newark opened in 2015.
