Police Recover Body Of Man Who Was Washed Off St Joseph Pier

April 14, 2021 The body of a man who drowned in Lake Michigan after being washed off the south pier in St. Joseph last month has been found. 27-year-old Dakota Yergeau of St. Joseph was washed off the pier while walking with another man on March 28. The Michigan State Police Dive Team recovered Yergeau’s body near the south pier on Wednesday. The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety says it offers his family its deepest condolences. Two Killed In Benton Harbor Fire

April 6, 2021 Two people are dead after a house fire in Benton Harbor early on Tuesday. The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety says it was called to 157 South Hull Street around 4:35 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully engulfed with flames shooting out of the roof and the roof collapsed. A bystander told firefighters there may have been two people inside. Once the fire was under control, firefighters found the first victim in the front of the home. The second victim was found in the kitchen in the rear of the home. The cause of the fire remains unknown and the Michigan State Fire Marshal is investigating. The names of the victims have not yet been released. The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety assisted at the scene to protect neighboring properties.

Police Identify Drowning Victim

The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety says a man presumed drowned in Lake Michigan after falling off the south pier last Sunday was 27-year-old Dakota Yergeau of St. Joseph. The search for his body was called off this past week. He’d been walking on the pier with another man around 5:30 p.m. Sunday when he was washed off by a wave. Share this:
