Intelligent.com Announces Best Colleges In Mississippi for 2021

The comprehensive research guide is based on an assessment of 55 accredited colleges and universities in the nation. Each program is evaluated based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, and post-graduate employment.
The 2021 rankings are calculated through a unique scoring system which includes student engagement, potential return on investment and leading third party evaluations. Intelligent.com analyzed 55 schools, on a scale of 0 to 100, with only 33 making it to the final list. The methodology also uses an algorithm which collects and analyzes multiple rankings into one score to easily compare each school.

LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art has opened a gallery featuring works by African American artists from around the country, Mississippi and the Pine Belt.
âIdentity and Responseâ is a collaborative between members of the staff at LRMA and local artist, Michael Ross, who is the curator for the exhibit. Ross was instrumental in placing each piece in a way which gives meaning and significance to those adjacent with each other.
Artwork from Ross is included in the exhibit with the bulk coming from the permanent collection owned by the museum.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Former State Rep. Gary V. Staples, 80, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
A native of Jones County, Staples served District 88 in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 and then again in 2004 before retiring in January 2020.
Staples graduated from Glade High School, Jones County Junior College and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the United States Navy and later retired from BellSouth where he worked for 31 years.
