The two teams were neck and neck and traded the lead several times before the Kernels pulled away in the final stanza. After a quiet game against Sioux Falls Washington, Jordon Heckert scored 11 points to help lead the Cobblers. Her teammate Sadie Glade also scored 11.

STURGIS, S.D.  Rapid City Central made it rain from three-point range on Saturday afternoon at West Gymnasium, downing the Sturgis Scoopers 73-40 in a Class AA matchup. It was Senior Recognition Day, with the Scooper faithful honoring senior players Payton Hedderman, Elizabeth Ortiz, Makayla Keffeler, Trinity Legner, Megan Petrocco and student manager Paige Bradley. The Cobblers and Scoopers faced each other for the second time this season, with Central taking the first meeting 48-38 in Rapid City. This Cobbler squad had a different look, with two recent transfers from the Red Cloud Lady Crusaders joining Rapid City last week, midway through the season. Governor Girls Rally To Top Cobblers

Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Jan 9, 2021 6:00 PM PIERRE – Pierre Governor girls basketball rallied for a 46-45 win over Rapid City Central Saturday at the Riggs High Gym. A 9-0 run in the third quarter sent the Governors to a nine-point lead before Central scored the next 13 points.  Then, Pierre scored 10 straight, including a three-pointer by Hannah Sazue with just over two minutes remaining that gave Pierre (4-4) the lead to stay.  Remington Price scored 16 for the Governors and hit three three-pointers.  Caytee Williams scored 11.  Jordon Heckert led Central with 16.
