Greater Presence of Family Physicians, Midwives May Be Key Component to Decreasing Cesarean Delivery Rates
Surgical cesarean births can expose new mothers to a range of health complications, including infection, blood clots and hemorrhage. As part of Healthy People 2020 and other maternal health objectives, the state of California exerted pressure to reduce cesarean deliveries, and statewide organizations established quality initiatives in partnership with those goals. In this study, researchers from Stanford University and the University of Chicago examined unit culture and provider mix differences on hospital and delivery units to identify characteristics of units that successfully reduced their cesarean delivery rates. Health officials in Brookline and Salem said Sunday they are continuing to require masks outdoors, even after the US Centers for Disease Control cleared the way last week for fully vaccinated people to forgo them outside when they can socially distance.

WASHINGTON - The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) presented its Master Interventionalists of SCAI (MSCAI) designations during the SCAI 2020 Scientific Sessions Virtual Conference MSCAI recognition ceremony.

St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton will become a Boston University teaching hospital under an agreement reached between the University and Steward Health Care, announced on Monday.
The five-year partnership, which goes into effect July 1, when the University begins its academic year, deepens and expands an existing relationship between BU and St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center (SEMC) that the parties say will benefit BU students and faculty, as well as patients of the Steward Health Care system. The deal will not impact the BU School of Medicine’s relationship with Boston Medical Center, its primary teaching affiliate.
