The question is, will you be able to find one? After a bumpy rollout of vaccine distribution, the state is hitting its stride, administering 57,000 doses per day on average. And it’s getting easier to find providers with ready doses. The volunteer-run CovidWA.com site has launched a tool that sends text notifications of nearby, newly released appointments. The service is free to anyone who signs up. The platform, which updates every five minutes, also has a Twitter feed broadcasting open spots.

Friday (April 2) at 10 a.m., registration opens for a drive-thru Pfizer vaccine event in Puyallup scheduled for Tuesday (April 6). The links to register will be at Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department s social media accounts on Twitter or Facebook, and its website tpchd.org/vaxtothefuture. The registration links also will be at Pierce County s website piercecountywa.gov/7096/Covid-19-Vaccine-Information. Mar. 31 Pierce County reported 158 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, with one additional death. The latest death involved a woman in her 80s from the Gig Harbor area. The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department no longer assigns underlying condition status to individual deaths it reports and instead counts underlying conditions as part of a percentage of the total number of deaths, which as of March 30 was 77.5 percent. The county s totals are now 39,274 cases and 511 deaths since the first confirmed coronavirus case was reported in March 2020.
