As our nation and our state continues to see a worker shortage due to the effects of the pandemic. One community is actively trying to combat that with a new campaign.
In superior the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce Group reported 9/10 businesses are unable to fill jobs. Leaving businesses to compete to fill their work forces. To draw in more workers the Superior-Douglas County Area Chamber of Commerce started the Lots of Jobs Lots of Living campaign.
A new website was created as a data base for jobs and information on the area to remind people of the plentiful opportunities. Chamber President and CEO Taylor Pedersen says they, “talk to [their] members frequently so we re going to ask them: Where are you seeing your members? And as things progress in the right direction, where are you seeing your employee s coming from?”

SUPERIOR, Wis.- The Superior Chamber of Commerce is promoting a “Lots of Love. Lots of Living.” campaign to spread awareness of the many jobs available in the area.
Superior-Douglas County Area Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the job push campaign after two months of planning. This includes launching a new website, allowing people to search and apply for jobs in the area.
“We’re not targeting a particular industry, we’re not targeting a particular job,” said CEO and President Taylor Pedersen. “I think a lot of our employees are doing a nice job of doing that. We’re targeting all jobs–there’s so many jobs, so many positions that are open.”

It is time to celebrate winter with the Lake Superior Ice Festival, to be held Friday and Saturday, January 29th and 30th. This is a free, family-friendly event on Barker s Island in Superior. Organizers say the festival will follow the CDC and Douglas County Health Department guidelines for every event held during the festival weekend.
The public will be encouraged to wear masks and follow social distance guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Superior Mayor Jim Paine said in a Lake Superior Ice Festival press release, that the city has had good luck with outdoor events.
