Bee Gees statue to be unveiled in Douglas

The most successful Manx pop group in music history is set to be honoured with a life-size statue in the capital. It’s been confirmed a sculpture dedicated to the Bee Gees will be unveiled in Douglas as soon as the border restrictions are lifted. Born on the Isle of Man, the trio are famed for hits such as Stayin’ Alive and Tragedy, selling more than 120 million records worldwide. Concerns raised over roadwork impact on retail

It’s feared roadworks in and around the capital could discourage shoppers from heading into the high street. A number of infrastructure projects are currently being carried out which are affecting traffic going in and out of Douglas town centre. Many retailers have been heavily impacted by coronavirus restrictions and efforts are now turning to ensuring they get the support they need to survive.
