Douglas County opens mass vaccination clinics to ages 12 and up

ROSEBURG, Ore. Douglas County is making an effort to get teens vaccinated this weekend.
There will be a mass vaccination clinic at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Saturday for anyone 12 years old and older.
Public health officer Bob Dannenhoffer said he understands there is still some vaccination hesitancy among the community, especially in minors. However, he said he wants people to know the shot will only benefit them in the long run.

The six-person Tiger Team was created by Douglas Public Health Network earlier this year with the goal of getting vaccines to people who may not have access to a clinic otherwise.

RICE HILL, Ore. Getting your COVID-19 vaccine while living in a rural community just got a lot easier in Douglas County now that the Tiger Team has two vaccines available to give out.

ROSEBURG, Ore. Douglas County health officials are hosting a mass vaccination clinic on Saturday for those 16 and up.
The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
Public health officer Bob Dannenhoffer said they have 1,500 Pfizer vaccines ready to give out. For this clinic, he said they hope to focus on getting the younger generation vaccinated.
“Over the last three weeks, we’ve seen a huge increase in young people getting the disease and an increase in the number of young people getting hospitalized,” he said. “This is an importance vaccine for everyone to get, but especially those under 30.”

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. Now that all Oregonians over the age of 16 are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine starting this Monday, health officials in Douglas and Coos counties are doing everything they can to adapt to the change.
Officials from both counties said they are more than enough shots to give to those who want it.
Douglas County public health officer Bob Dannenhoffer said they received 3,100 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week, which is close to what they get on average.
Aviva Health vaccinating smaller Douglas County communities
Aviva Health held a mass vaccination clinic at the Sutherlin Community Center Tuesday. This was their second mass vaccination clinic outside of Roseburg.

SUTHERLIN, Ore. Aviva Health is focusing their attention on getting COVID-19 vaccines to people in smaller Douglas County communities in hopes of reaching those who wouldn t have access otherwise.
A mass vaccination clinic was held at the Sutherlin Community Center Tuesday. This was Aviva Health s second mass vaccination clinic outside of Roseburg.
In the past few months, Aviva Health has been at the forefront of vaccination efforts in Douglas County. They have organized every mass vaccination clinic at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, where they have vaccinated at least 700 to 1,000 people at each event.
