Duncansville, Mount Union awarded grants
Apr 23, 2021
The Duncansville Municipal Authority has received an $840,650 grant and a $409,350 loan to repair a belt press facility and convert a sludge storage building into a rotary press facility with dewatering equipment, Pennvest said.
The project will address National Fire Protection Agency code requirements and improve a system that has reached the end of useful life.
“The ratepayers of this small sewer system could not afford these upgrades that will ensure the system is functioning safely without the help of the Pennvest program,” state Sen. Judy Ward, R-Blair, said in a release. “Sewer system repairs are cost prohibitive especially when the authority has to spread the enormous price tag of system improvements over such a small rate base.”
