Frontline staff at Portlaoise hospital enjoyed a fifth consecutive day free from Covid-19 going into a new week according to the latest figures from the HSE.
The HSE’s Covid-19 Daily Operations Updates show that the number of Covid-19 patients in hospital in Laois and elsewhere by 8 pm each day. The number for the Laois hospital had fallen to one in the report for April 27 when there was a critically ill patient in the hospital.
No Covid-19 positive patient was recorded as being treated in the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise on Tuesday evening, May 28. The situation has remained stable going into bank holiday Monday, May 3.

There are no patients with Covid-19 in Portlaoise hospital for the first time since a brief lull in March, according to the latest figures from the Health Service Executive (HSE).
After falling steadily through April, the number of people with the virus at the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise reached zero on Wednesday, April 28.

Covid-19 hospitalisations at Portlaoise hospital have plunged with bed availability improving according to the latest HSE figures.
The HSE’s Covid-19 Daily Operations Updates show that the number of Covid-19 patients in the Laois hospital by 8 pm on Wednesday, April 22 has dropped to just two. One of the ill patients was in the hospital s ICU by 8pm on Sunday. The hospital had no suspect case.
The bed situation appears to have improved on what staff faced through many weeks in March and April. There were 20 general beds available by Wednesday evening although there was just one ICU bed.

The number of people with Covid-19 at Portlaoise hospital doubled after St Patrick s Day. From having no patients over the first weekend in March, Frontline staff had 10 people who required inpatient care having contracted the coronavirus on the weekend after March 17.

There were no critically ill patients in the hospital s ICU by 8pm on Sunday. The hospital had no suspect case at the end of the weekend.
