A WOMAN WHO stole more than €20,000 from her company social club and company credit card and spent the money on luxury holidays and shopping trips has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
Nicola Henry (32) was the secretary of the Johnson & Johnson social club when she wrote 37 cheques to herself, forging her colleagues’ signatures.
She received a total of €17,326 from 27 of these cheques, which she spent on luxury holidays to Australia, Sri Lanka and Dubai, as well as restaurants, sho

A robber has been jailed for three years and nine months for his crime against two tourists near the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin.
Paul Heaney (37) and Gareth Mallon (39), who had a realistic imitation firearm, robbed an Italian student of €60 and attempted to rob his teacher before fleeing the scene.
The court heard the case attracted some media attention and featured on RTÉ’s
Liveline show.
Heaney, who was not armed during the offence, attended voluntarily at a garda station a few days later. Mallon was sentenced to four years imprisonment for his role last December.
Heaney, of Michael Mallin House, Dublin 8, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to robbery and attempted robbery at Long’s Place on October 21, 2019. He has 51 previous convictions, including convictions for robbery and attempted robbery.
Two men who followed an 87-year-old woman who had just withdrawn €2,000 from a bank and distracted her while they stole it from her handbag have been jailed.
Robert Malole (43) and Gheorghe Cocos (44) were caught on CCTV observing the woman at the bank and following her to a shop, pharmacy and onto her car.
Cocos approached and asked her to point out a location on a map which obstructed her view of her handbag while the money was stolen.
The court heard gardaí traced the pair through CCTV and by tracing their rental car which they had obtained using their real passports. The men have repaid the money taken from the victim in full.
