This July, our book clubs will read and discuss ‘Hamnet’ by Maggie O’Farrell.
Winner of the Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2020, Maggie O’Farrell’s novel is a fictionalised account of the life of Shakepeare’s son, Hamnet.
Set in a plague-stricken land where “the playhouses are all shut, and nobody is allowed to gather in public,” the book has some striking resonances with our times.
The book clubs are held on the last Tuesday and Thursday of every month at 8pm. We start each session with an inclusive discussion about the current title and then have a broader discussion about what we’re reading and swap recommendations.
