Retired grandmother launches paint-and-sip business during pandemic

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. West Brighton resident Diana Daniels, 66, became interested in painting once she retired in 2010 after more than three decades as a clinical research technologist.
“Once I started, I fell in love with putting the paint on the canvas,” she said. “I took some classes, and found myself painting. .I realized I was drawing for so long. I go back to the time when I would, as a research assistant in laboratories, have to look into a microscope and draw what I saw.”
