He was 57 years old. According to a news release from the department, Llanes was hired in February of 1988. He worked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center until 1992 and was later transferred to the Metro-West Detention Center, where he worked until 2010. Llanes last worked at the Hospital Services Unit. “I met Officer Llanes in September 2011 when I transferred to Ward-D. WATCH: 3 women chased, robbed by gun-wielding man in Miami Beach, police say Published:  Updated:  Tags:  MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Three women from Ohio were robbed Friday morning a block away from busy Washington Avenue in Miami Beach. The armed robbery was caught on camera as the women walked on 15th Street around 7:06 a.m. The women told Miami Beach police that a white car playing loud music pulled up and that’s when a man, later identified as Tajani Shepard of Fresno, Calif., got out of the car and pointed a gun at them. (Watch the video below.) As the women tried to run away, one of them fell, according to an arrest report. That’s when Shepard took that woman’s purse and cell phone and then continued to chase after the other two.

Fugitive released by error logs on for virtual Miami-Dade court hearing

MIAMI – A fugitive who corrections officers erroneously released on Monday from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County was taken back into custody Friday morning, authorities confirmed. Eduardo Orama Cabana was mistakenly freed on his 52nd birthday, but he logged on to Zoom for a virtual court hearing on Thursday. During the hearing, Assistant Miami-Dade Public Defender Fadya Salem said he had been reunited with his Chihuahua and he needed more time to make arrangements to turn himself in. He had logged on with his dog, but by the time his case came up, he had logged off.
