A state-wide study showed that
Texas’ return to in-person education last fall “gradually but substantially accelerated,” leading to at least 43,000 additional cases and 800 additional deaths statewide reported the Texas Tribune. The study was done by University of Kentucky researchers, choosing Texas as most schools around the country were still closed while Texas and few others were re-opening.
A new poll finds that
Sipho Gumbo launched Yangu Beauty, a skincare line for women of color, in 2016. She often visited churches and attended trade shows to market her products.
“I use ancient African oil and cutting-edge science to create products that help women of color have beautiful skin,” Gumbo said.
But like may small busienss owners, surviving during the COVID-19 pandemic has had its challenges and business declined.
“It came to a halt for us just after we had visited the beauty expo in Los Angeles,” she said. “We had met a lot of potential retailers nationally and internationally. So all that was impacted because of COVID. What happened was we had actually had so many retailers have a lot of interest in the business, but because we had to stop we didn’t know where it was going to go. Our international expansion had to come to a halt also.”

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported
209 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths on Wednesday, continuing the streak of single digit deaths in Dallas County.
A large-scale COVID-19 vaccination center will open at UT Arlington Wednesday, administering an estimated 630+ doses a day. The site is a collaboration between Tarrant County and the UNT Health Scienes Center to expand vaccine access to the southeast portion of the county and UTA’s 40,000 students. Learn more from the

170 new COVID-19 cases and 5 deaths on Tuesday.
Doctors at Baylor University Medical Center are testing a new drug to combat against coronavirus variants. The treatment, a monoclonal antibody, neutralized all known variants of concern in preliminary lab tests with new trials that will test the new antibody’s efficacy in healthy adults recently diagnosed with COVID-19.

The FDA is expected to approve Pfizer’s COVID vaccine for ages 12 and older by next week, WFAA reported. President Biden said in a press conference that if approved the government will immediately move to make about 20,000 pharmacy sites across the country ready to vaccinate kids.
