(WSFA) - The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify a man wanted in an armed robbery investigation. Investigators say patrol units responded to a panic alarm at a convenience store in the 44800 block of U.S. Highway 80 East shortly before 8:30 a.m. Saturday, CrimeStoppers reports state that a man entered the store with what they’re calling a “military style rifle” and demanded money from the clerks. Investigators say he took money from two registers then ordered the clerks to go to the bathroom and ran away.

The Iowa State Patrol reports 53-year-old Stephen Joseph Wink, of Council Bluffs, was driving a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta south along J Avenue when he crossed over the center line and struck a northbound 2001 Toyota Echo driven by 39-year-old Danyel Denise Hardisty, of rural Minburn. When rescue crews arrived, they found Hardisty dead at the scene. A 7-year-old child inside Hardisty’s vehicle was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital for serious injuries. The Sheriff s Office says 39-year-old Danyel Hardisty was killed, and a young child in her vehicle was taken to Blank Children s Hospital in Des Moines with serious injuries. The other driver, 53-year-old Steven Wink of Council Bluffs suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The Sheriff s Office says the crash happened after 9:30 p.m. in the 15000 block of J Avenue, near Highway 141, just south of Perry. Authorities say they do not believe weather was a factor, the investigation continues.
