Subscriber only A WOMAN who tried to hide a used syringe in her hair has been busted with meth and marijuana in a police search. About 11.55pm on Thursday, police saw a man and a woman walking along Tenth Ave, Railway Estate. They searched the man first, and police will allege they found a bag of meth in his bag. Officers also searched the woman and found a syringe in her hair bun, and a bag od meth, marijuana, a used needle and a water pipe in her bag. The 27-year-old Railway Estate man was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs and is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on February 1.

Subscriber only CHARGES have been laid against a Townsville engineering firm after a worker died while unloading steel pipes from a truck. Prosecutors filed the federal work health and safety charges against CASA Engineering after an investigation into the incident at the Bohle site in 2018. Townsville grandfather Allen Ward, 62, was reportedly unloading steel pipes from a truck at CASA Engineering in Enterprise Street, Bohle on the morning of December 14, 2018 when a pipe fell and crushed him. At the time, the Bulletin reported that nearby workers tried in vain to use a forklift to free Mr Ward before paramedics arrived at the scene, but he could not be saved.
Premium Content A MAN accused of murdering a man while he walked two women home on a quiet Ingham street will fight the charges against him. Caleb Rutherford, 24, was charged with murder earlier this week after he spent more than three days on the lam avoiding law enforcement. Rutherford, who spent the night behind bars in the Townsville Watch-house, was on bail when he allegedly fatally stabbed 20-year-old Josh Hyde on Sunday night. The case against him was mentioned for the first time in the Townsville Magistrates Court today. Caleb Rutherford, 24, has been charged with the murder and breaching bail, and was taken to Townsville Watchhouse on Thursday afternoon. PICTURE: MATT TAYLOR.
