Attention all student-athletes at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School: a $1,000 scholarship is now available through the Mark J. Fitzsimmons Memorial Scholarship Fund for students who have played at least one year of varsity sports and maintained a 2.0 Grade-Point Average or better.

Mark Fitzsimmons was a revered lacrosse coach at GNB Voc-Tech for many years. He taught his players to always compete, obey the rules, and never give up.
Coach Fitzsimmons died from cancer several years ago, and a short time later a group of former students began meeting about ways to honor their coach.
