LAS VEGAS (KTNV) â Nellis Air Force Base officials confirm that a contractor-operated aircraft from the base has crashed near Cheyenne Avenue and Nellis Boulevard in Las Vegas, killing the pilot.
The aircraft, which National Transportation Safety Board officials have identified as a Dassault Aviation Mirage F-1, took off from the base around 2:30 p.m. today and crashed shortly after.
According to authorities, the aircraft was owned, operated, and piloted by Draken US, a Florida-based company contracted to provide adversary air support to Nellis Air Force Base.

The pilot of a fighter jet that plunged into the backyard of a home nearby Nellis Air Force Base has died as a result of the fiery crash.
Their identity has not been released, and no other people were onboard the contractor-operated aircraft when it crashed into a residential neighborhood just outside Las Vegas.
The Dassault Aviation Mirage F-1 went down shortly after takeoff on Monday, around 2:30 p.m., according to a press release from the Nellis Air force Base, which is also home to variety of jets, including F-16 Falcon and F-22 Raptor fighter jets and A-10 Warthhog attack jets, as well as the Thunderbirds demonstration team.
Coroner IDs pilot killed in military jet crash in northeast Las Vegas neighborhood
LAS VEGAS (KVVU) The Clark County Coroner’s office on Tuesday identified the pilot killed when a military jet crashed in a residential neighborhood near Nellis Air Force Base on Monday.
According to the coroner’s office, the pilot was identified as Nicholas Hunter Hamilton, 43, of Las Vegas.
In a tweet, Clark County said, “”Our thoughts & prayers are with Mr. Hamilton’s family & friends at this difficult time.”

There was one occupant inside the military jet, who passed away after the crash occurred in a neighborhood on Monday. The wingman has not been publicly identified by authorities.
According to KVVU, the crash was reported at 2245 North Christy Lane.
Nellis officials told KVVU that the aircraft, a Dassault Aviation Mirage F-1, took off from the base around 2:30 p.m. The jet was owned and piloted by Draken, which operates out of the Lakeland Linder Airport.
