The Tompkins County Health Department is notifying the community that this weekâs clinic is full. On Jan. 26, the Health Department announced 600 available first dose appointments, and offered these appointments directly to P-12 school staff, corrections personnel, and first responders through employers and association networks.
Cayuga Health System, in partnership with the Tompkins County Health Department, held a clinic for second doses of the vaccine on Jan. 26 and administered 400 doses to individuals in phase 1A who received their first dose four weeks ago; 2,300 second doses will be administered during the week of Feb. 1. Second doses are distributed by the federal government based on the number of first doses administered. Second dose appointments are administered at the same location where individuals received their first vaccine dose.

As the spring semester begins, a team of engineering students and faculty has finished tweaking the master schedule, using lessons they learned last fall during their heroic effort to help Cornell have safe, in-person classes.
University leaders faced a critical question in April 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic surged and they contemplated an in-person fall semester: Would it even be possible?
ITHACA, NY The Tompkins County Health Department is trying to locate a dog that bit a person in front of Pizza Roma and the Ithaca Mini Mart on South Cayuga Street, near the Green Street intersection in Ithaca. The bite occurred Tuesday, Jan. 26 around 2:10 p.m.
The dog is described as a medium-sized, short-haired, white dog with brown freckling around the face and back, with shorter ears that folded over. The dog was on a leash, accompanied by a white man, lighter build, approximately 5â6â-5â8â, wearing an oversized, dark =0colored winter coat/ski jacket with a hood over his head.
While many factors have led to Cornellâs success to date in managing the spread of COVID-19 on campus, one unsung aspect has been the universityâs commitment to analyze and learn, to pivot and adapt. Senior-level committees â working in close collaboration with the Tompkins County Health Department and Cayuga Medical Center â have met steadily throughout the pandemic to assess Cornellâs COVID-19 plan, and have suggested improvements that have shaped Cornellâs processes. The university will continue to evaluate and modify its approach as needed with agility through the spring semester.
