A mobile court assisted by Rab today jailed 24 brokers for harassing and deceiving patients at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The convicts including staffers of private hospitals, diagnostic centres and people carrying patients on trollies and ambulances were sentenced to highest one month in prison.
A woman was killed after her niece allegedly hit her with a spice crusher and stabbed her indiscriminately in Dhaka's Gulshan area. The deceased was identified as Nikita Akter (40) an inhabitant of Norda area under Gulshan Police Station. Police detained the deceased's niece Jesmin Akter in connection with the murder. Four people, including a pedestrian, were critically injured when a covered van fell off Muktarpur Bridge in Munshiganj this morning.
The injured Belal Hossain (32) and Bachchu (32), supervisors of a private company; van driver Rasel Munshi (30); and pedestrian Mamun (32) were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), reports our Munshiganj correspondent.
A twelve-year-old girl died at hospital early today, hours after a boundary wall collapsed on her in Dhaka Mirpur area yesterday. The deceased was identified as Nazma Akter, a resident of Kazipara area. Mobarak Hossain, uncle of the deceased, said part of an old boundary wall of a four-storey building collapsed on her as she was passing by the area last evening.
