Journo shot during AL factional clash in Noakhali dies at DMCH

A journalist, who sustained bullet injuries in a clash between the loyalists of Abdul Quader Mirza, mayor of Basurhat municipality in Noakhali’s Companyganj, and members of a faction of the Awami League on Friday, died at a hospital in the capital on Saturday night.
Burhan Uddin Mujakker, 25, the Companyganj Upazila correspondent of the Bangladesh Samachar, breathed his last at around 11:45pm at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Inspector Bachchu Mia of the hospital’s police camp confirmed the news.
He was hit by bullets in the neck, head and other parts of his body and taken to Noakhali General Hospital in critical condition before being transferred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Woman killed, husband injured in attack ‘by UP chairman’ in Cumilla Star Digital Report Star Digital Report
A woman has been killed and three men were injured in an attack allegedly carried out by a local UP chairman and his men in Cumilla s Meghna upazila last night.
The deceased was identified as Nazma Begum (45). Her husband Abdus Salam and brothers-in-law Sirajul Islam and Faruk were injured in the incident, reports our correspondent quoting Abdul Majid, officer-in-charge of Meghna Police Station.
Locals alleged that Bhaorkhola Union Parishad Chairman Faruk Abbasi and his men attacked the family around 7:30 last night. They also said that the chairman and his supporters have been extorting money from them and conducting other criminal activities in the area for a long time.
