Abdul Matin, who crossed 89, and Raushan Ara, 81, from Rampura arrived at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning and later departed with a sigh of relief.
“Getting vaccinated is good. Everyone should take the shots, Matin told bdnews24.com.
The couple were accompanied by their daughter Faria Bushra Matin at the vaccination centre. They haven’t been infected with the coronavirus. That’s a relief. They are mentally agile for their age. Both of them are doing fine after receiving the shots,” Faria said.

Around 1.8 lakh people have received Covid-19 vaccine across the country including in Dhaka city till Tuesday as part of the nationwide vaccination programme.
A total of 179,318 people received the vaccine on January 27-28 and February 7-9, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data.
Of the total vaccine recipients, 134,735 were male and 44,583 female. Only 207 vaccine recipients reported side effects, DGHS said. Among the total vaccine recipients, 25,333 were in Dhaka.
The DGHS said 101,082 people received Covid-19 vaccine on Tuesday, the third day of the countywide vaccination. Of the recipients, 74,586 were male and 26,496 female.
Hefajat leader critically injured after being stabbed in Dhaka

A central leader of Hefajat-e Islam was critically injured after being stabbed by an unidentified assailant in Dhaka s Lalbagh area yesterday evening.
Maulana Jasim Uddin, assistant secretary general of Hefajat, was receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for wounds on his back.
Jasim Uddin was first taken to DMCH. From there, he was moved to a private hospital and then later he was brought back and admitted to DMCH.
Dr Alauddin, resident medical officer of the hospital s emergency department, said the condition of the patient is critical and he is being given blood.

The programme started at 9 am and by 10 am, about 100 people received their jabs, said Alauddin Al Azad, deputy director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. People can sign up for vaccination at the hospital, in addition to prior online registrations.
On Sunday, 270 people were vaccinated at DMCH.
Tasmina Parveen, a doctor working at a vaccination booth, said a greater number of people may get vaccinated on the second day.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque launched the drive virtually at the Mohakhali health centre at 10 am on Sunday.
A woman died after a brick chip fell on her from an under-construction building in Dhaka's Jatrabari area this morning. The deceased was identified as Runa Akhter, 22, a garment worker living in West Mominbagh area with his husband and a son. Runa was on her way to work around 7:45am. As she was passing by a four-storey under-construction building, a brick chip fell on her
