Bedford Planning Commission seat remains open Bedford Township’s Planning Commission remains one member short after Supervisor Paul Pirrone’s sixth attempt to fill the vacant seat failed to reach a vote during the township board of trustees’ meeting on Tuesday.  Pirrone’s latest nominee was Michael Smith, a longtime Bedford resident who served for 15 years on the Bedford Public Schools Board of Education and who is currently the Sergeant At Arms for the Monroe/Lenawee County AFL-CIO Central Labor Council.   “Mr. Smith has demonstrated his board leadership skills having served on the Bedford Public Schools Board for 15 years and the Work Force Development Board,” Pirrone said. “In addition, he has served on many community projects through his work in Monroe County. Mr. Smith has served his community not only in the past, but is looking to serve Bedford once again.”
