2-Alarm Fire on Deer Hill Avenue in Danbury Leaves One Injured

Get our free mobile app According to the Danbury Fire Department, the Hat City s Bravest sprung to action just before 11:00 PM upon being notified that there was active fire in the area of Wooster Street and Deer Hill Avenue. As they arrived to location of the report, the firefighters were flagged down by neighbors, directing them to the four-story, wood framed condominium complex at 130 Deer Hill Avenue. By that time, smoke was reportedly billowing up from the rear of the complex, and upon their initial observation, the DFD elevated the fire to a second alarm, allowing for additional units to be brought in to assist with what s been described as heavy fire conditions on both the third and fourth floors of the complex. The fire began to extend to the attic as well.

Enter your number to get our free mobile app According to a post from the Danbury Fire Department, on Tuesday night (Feb 2) around 11:08 PM, the fire department was called to the area of 6 Sage Road in the Lake Waubeeka community to respond to a house fire. Even with 18 inches of snow on the ground, the Danbury Fire units arrived to the house, which was set below the ground, with heavy flames coming from the back windows. Both West Redding and Ridgefield Fire Departments were called to the scene for assistance, each bringing their tankers to assist the Danbury Fire Department.

One Critically Injured In Danbury Three-Alarm Condo Fire

One person is in critical condition following a three-alarm fire at a Fairfield County townhouse. The fire started around 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Sterling Townhouse Complex off of Nabby Road in Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communication coordinator for the Danbury Fire Department.  First arriving firefighters were met with a large column of smoke and a second alarm was transmitted, Gagliardo said. Upon arrival, crews were faced with a large amount of fire from the garage of a 2-and-half story wood frame condo end unit requiring a third alarm response, Gagliardo said. Crews went right to work on extinguishing the fire which was deemed under control by 9:09 a.m., officials said.
