BISD announces April Spotlight employees

Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday morning: Congratulations to our April 2021 Spotlight teacher, Terri Stephens! Ms. Stephens is a Mathematics teacher at Brownwood High School (BHS). In addition to being a graduate of Brownwood High School, Ms. Stephens holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Tarleton State University and is a graduate of their Model for Accelerated Teacher Education (TMATE) program. She is a certified teacher holding a professional license for teaching Secondary Mathematics (6th-12th). This is Ms. Stephens’ eighteenth year with Brownwood ISD. Ms. Stephens is a fantastic math teacher who genuinely cares for both her co-workers’ and student’s success. She makes it a priority to not only be involved with the advancement of her students, but the BHS community as a whole. She is a team player in the truest sense.

Tarleton student Jamie Hogland, shot in 2017, dies at Conroe home

Jamie Richards-Hogland was victim of mistaken-identify shooting at an off-campus apartment in Stephenville Brownwood Bulletin “I want to give you an update on the young lady that was shot there at Tarleton University about three years ago. Her name was Jamie Renee Hogland. She passed away on Good Friday.”  DeLeon resident Johnnie Harper left that message Tuesday with the Brownwood Bulletin, explaining that Richards-Hogland, as she is referred to in her obituary, was the daughter of his cousin, Eddie Hogland of Conroe. She died April 2 at age 22 at the family’s home in Conroe, where she’d been battling leukemia.

Maybe you need some community service hours? The Erath County Humane Society would love to have your help! The facility has been short handed in the mornings and needs all the time you can spare. The kennels are over capacity and every one needs cleaning/sanitizing in addition to the other morning chores. Volunteers are needed to help with dishes, laundry, cleaning outside yards, feeding dogs/cats, replacing bedding, and just some good old-fashioned TLC.
