Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd CEO to represent CPLC 02 June 2021 Mahendra Singhi, managing director and CEO of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd has been invited to represent the prestigious Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC) as Carbon Pricing Champion. CPLC is a voluntary initiative aimed at accelerating climate change by securing the place of carbon pricing on the global agenda . The international group consisting of influential torchbearers of climate change appreciated Mr Singhi for demonstrating leadership and a high level of commitment towards carbon pricing on behalf of Dalmia Cement. The coalition has further acknowledged the dynamic engagement of Mr Singhi with CPLC board members and expressed the desire to get more strategic input from him in the future. Mr Singhi will now work with global business leaders like Feike Sijbesma, honorary chair of the Board of Royal DSM to devise Carbon Pricing strategies for the Asia-Pacific region. 

Odisha puts 23 investment projects on fast track, govt sets new timeline

The Odisha Government has put 23 investment projects, including the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Pvt Ltd and JSW Steel Ltd project in Keonjhar district, on fast track, an official statement said. Chief Secretary S C Mohapatra resolved some of the issues faced by the industrial projects at a meeting held Thursday. He set timelines for each phase of activity, the statement said on Friday. Mohapatra told the concerned departments to adhere to the timeline scrupulously , it said. The chief secretary also told the project investors and project proponents to mobilise more men and machines for early completion of the construction works.

Dalmia adds 2 3Mta to Bengal capacity

Dalmia adds 2.3Mta to Bengal capacity 28 December 2020 Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd has expanded its capacity in Bengal, India, by 2.3Mta to 4Mta. The expansion represents an investment of INR3.6bn (US$48.9m). The company expects pent-up demand from infrastructure projects and affordable housing following business disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is also adding 2.3Mta of brownfield capacity in Odisha and revamp the operations of Murli Industries in Maharashtra to add 3Mta. “Today we are at around 29Mta approximately and we should be going to 31Mta by the first quarter of the next financial year and by the third quarter we should be around 34Mta,” said Ujjwal Batria, the company’s COO. He added that the company plans to produce blended cement to ensure reduced carbon footprint as part of its plans to become carbon negative by 2040.

The World Cement Association Appoints Two New Directors

Advertisement The World Cement Association announced today it has appointed two new Directors: Roland van Wijnen, CEO of Africa’s PPC Ltd., and Mahendra Singhi Managing Director & CEO of India’s Dalmia Cement. The appointments were agreed in a vote at the WCA General Assembly Meeting on the 10 th of December 2020. The Board of Directors has a key role within the WCA, as it defines the objectives and strategy of the association as well as overseeing the professional running of the organisation and its activities. Board members are also responsible for ensuring members’ interests continue to be represented at all levels.
