BRUSSELS, July 7 (Xinhua) The European Parliament on Wednesday adopted a 30-billion-euro package to fund transport, digital and energy projects until 2027.
The European Parliament said in a statement that lawmakers had given the green light to the updated Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, allocating more funds for transport infrastructure investments.
The facility had been agreed between Parliament and Council in March. The fund covers the period from 2021 to 2027 and will finance projects in the fields of transport, energy, and digital technologies.
It will ensure that essential Trans-European projects such as Rail Baltica, alternative fuels charging infrastructure and the roll-out of 5G coverage to important transport axes are finished on schedule by 2030.
