WF Fire Corner: Putting out different types of fires, a look at other fire duties
Recreational fires are allowed within the city limits of West Fargo. However, yard waste like leaves and grass should not be thrown onto a fire. Adding either one can create allot of smoke and can smolder for long periods.

Let me start by saying; Happy Spring.
We have a lot to celebrate this May, Mother’s day, Memorial Day, warmer weather and over 125,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Cass County.
April has been quite dry at the beginning of the month and we hope that we find a happy medium with moisture. This will let us enjoy outdoor activities which include recreational fires.
A rural Manchester man accused of secretly recording a girl as she showered has pleaded guilty to one related charge. 34 year old Travis Olson pleaded guilty in Iowa District Court of Delaware County to intentional trespassing. He was given a deferred judgment and one year of probation. With a deferred judgment, if probation and payment obligations are successfully completed, the record of the case is expunged. A charge of invasion of privacy was dismissed as part of a plea deal. A report says that Olson knew the girl, who saw an iPod propped up outside of a bathroom window as she was getting into a shower this past fall. She later noticed that the iPod had been removed and saw Olson walking away from the area.

The Mankato and St. Peter school districts are among those preparing to welcome elementary students back to buildings in mid-January. The timing of a return for secondary students is less certain.
Mankato Area Public School officials tentatively hope to bring back elementary students full time on Jan. 19. A potential date for Mankato secondary students has not been announced.
St. Peter elementary students likely will return part time Jan. 6 and return to full time Jan. 19. St. Peter secondary students could return to a hybrid model as soon as Jan. 11 if local COVID-19 case rates continue to decline.
All the prospective return dates also are contingent on no new coronavirus outbreaks among students or school staff.
