On Friday, Disneyland, California s world-famous theme park, will reopen to visitors after an unprecedented 13-month closure in what tourism officials hope is a sign of the state s rebound from the pandemic. For now, the park is allowing only in-state visitors and operating at limited capacity.

On Friday, Disneyland, California’s world-famous theme park, was set to reopen to visitors after an unprecedented 13-month closure in what tourism officials hope is a sign of the state’s rebound from the pandemic. For now, the park is allowing only in-state visitors and operating at limited capacity.
The day began with Disney officials and park employees wearing face coverings gathered in the park’s town square for the morning flag-raising ceremony.
Disney chief executive Bob Chapek thanked the color guard for raising the flag daily throughout the 412-day closure and asked employees to “bring the magic back” for visitors about to enter the park.

The Disneyland Resort officially opens today and when you go on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride, you ll notice a little change. Per state guidelines, Disneyland will follow COVID restrictions and that will impact the runtime for the ride. The full ride is about 18 minutes long, which is three minutes over California s suggested time limit for indoor rides, meaning Disney will likely alter portions to comply. According to the L.A. Times, the hybrid walkthrough-ride s major plot points along the journey like when Kylo Ren pursues guests will remain intact, but dwelling points, such as portions where riders physically walk through the ride, will be tightened like lingering around the stormtroopers in the hangar bay.

Disneyland park is a place that constantly flowers with all sorts of firsts, even if you re on your fifth or fiftieth visit. There s the first Dole whip of the day, the first time you ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant after entering the park, and the first character you see.
But the park s famous firsts got, well, first-ier on Friday, April 30, 2021. That s when Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure reopened after a 412-day closure, a temporary shuttering prompted by the pandemic.
The theme parks are now back, and Disneyland Resort shared some of the festive and emotional first photos from the morning of the parks reopening.
